In a surprising turn of events, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated his readiness for a 30-day ceasefire, should Moscow demonstrate sincere intentions to end the ongoing conflict. During a phone conversation with former President Donald Trump, he shared this notion, ensuring the world that Ukraine stands ready for dialogues in any format, provided the prerequisite is met.

According to sources, the pair also touched upon the Ukraine-US resource agreement—a deal that took a long time to negotiate and underwent amendments at Ukraine's request. Last month, the agreement was finally signed, with Ukraine's parliament ratifying it on Thursday. The agreement pertains to the joint exploitation of oil, gas, and minerals in Ukraine.

Trump, speaking via his online platform Truth Social, echoed Zelensky's sentiments, urging for a 30-day, unconditional ceasefire. He warned that, failure to uphold the truce, would result in additional sanctions alongside America's partners.

As a friendly reminder, Trump is no longer in office, so his involvement in direct negotiations is unlikely. Current high-level diplomatic discussions are typically facilitated by President Volodymyr Zelensky and key international leaders engaged in the conflict.

In recent times, we've observed Russia's unilateral ceasefire on Victory Day, May 8. However, Ukraine accused Russia of violating the ceasefire with continued attacks in various regions such as Pokrovsk and Velyka Novosilka [1].
