Ukraine & Denmark Team Up for Drone Defence Exercises Amid Russian Threat
Ukraine has dispatched a team to Denmark for joint exercises in drone defence, as both nations grapple with the Russian drone threat. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for robust European-wide protection against these aerial threats.
Denmark has recently reported drone sightings near military bases and airports, raising concerns about potential espionage or sabotage by Russia. Ukraine, with its extensive experience in drone defence, is sharing its expertise with European countries. This includes joint exercises and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
The Ukrainian military's drone defence capabilities have been honed through the ongoing conflict with Russia. Recent strikes, such as the one that killed a family of four in Sumy, have underscored the urgent need for effective countermeasures. Meanwhile, European defence ministers have agreed to construct a 'drone wall' along their borders with Russia and Ukraine to bolster security.
In light of these developments, Germany, France, and Poland have pledged to strengthen defence cooperation with Ukraine. This includes utilising frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine and deepening defence integration. However, the Kremlin has criticised the European plan to build a 'drone wall', warning that 'history shows that building walls is always bad'. Despite this, European nations remain committed to enhancing their defence capabilities in the face of persistent Russian threats.
