UK Survey Exposes Widespread Porn Consumption and Early Exposure Concerns
A recent survey reveals alarming statistics about pornography consumption in the UK. The findings show a widespread issue, with 14 million people accessing online porn and over four in five men admitting to watching it.
The age of first exposure to porn is also concerning. 34% of men accessed it before the age of 15, with some even before the age of ten. This early exposure can have lasting impacts, as seen in the high number of men reporting negative effects on their sex life and relationships - 59% of men surveyed said porn had a negative impact.
The prevalence of porn consumption is not limited to private spaces. Over a third of male Brits (36%) have watched porn in public spaces. This behaviour is more common in certain cities. Newcastle upon Tyne tops the list with an average of 629,260 monthly searches per person, followed by Wells in Somerset and Manchester. This is over three times the city's population, equating to around 3.3 searches per resident every month.
The survey also highlights the potential health implications. 64% of men believe porn has contributed to porn-induced erectile dysfunction (PIED). Moreover, one in four men (26%) don't think they could give up watching porn for 90 days, indicating a level of dependency.
The high prevalence of porn consumption in the UK, along with its potential negative impacts on health and relationships, raises serious concerns. Further research and public health initiatives may be necessary to address this issue.
