UK Rights to Kristen Stewart's 'The Chronology of Water' Purchased by Les Films Du Losange, Following a Series of Deal Closings
The much-anticipated directorial debut of actress Kristen Stewart, "The Chronology of Water," has been making waves in the international film circuit. The film, based on Lidia Yuknavitch's memoir and adapted for the screen by Stewart herself, has already sold out its screening sessions at the BFI Film Festival.
BFI Distribution, a division of the British Film Institute, has acquired the U.K. & Ireland rights for this groundbreaking film. Stewart expressed her gratitude towards the BFI for helping bring "The Chronology of Water" to U.K. audiences.
The film premiered in Cannes Un Certain Regard in May and has since been selected for various prestigious film festivals worldwide. These include New Horizons in Poland, Melbourne in Australia, Middle Art Festival in the Czech Republic, Helsinki in Finland, Oldenburg in Germany, and Busan in South Korea.

In Europe, Eksystent has acquired the rights for Germany and Austria, Svoekino for Ukraine, Leopardo Filmes for Portugal, Wanted for Italy, Bem Mozi for Hungary, and O'Brother for Benelux. In Asia, Pancinema has acquired the rights for South Korea, while Forma Pro will cater to the CIS audience.
The film also boasts an impressive cast, featuring Jim Belushi, Thora Birch, Charlie Carrick, Susannah Flood, Kim Gordon, and Tom Sturridge, alongside Stewart. The film's rights for other regions, including Indonesia, the Former Yugoslavia, Romania, Spain, Central America, and the Baltic States, have also been acquired.
"The Chronology of Water" has already won several awards, including the Revelation Prize at the Deauville American Film Festival and the Grand Prix at Cinefest in Hungary. As the film continues its global tour, audiences can look forward to experiencing this powerful and thought-provoking film.
