Ugo Malcor's Initial Strides in the French Open, Analyzed by His Parents, Olivier Malcor and Sarah Pitkowski
In the heart of Paris, a new talent is making waves at the Open de France. Ugo Malcor, a 21-year-old golfer, is participating in his first major tournament, and the excitement is palpable.
Malcor, a student at Mississippi State University, has been making significant strides in his game, particularly in his chipping, wedging, and putting, since moving to the United States. This progress has earned him a spot in the Open de France, thanks to his 2nd place in the national amateur merit.
Accompanying Malcor on this historic journey are his parents, Sarah Pitkowski and Olivier Malcor. Pitkowski, a former 29th ranked player in the WTA, and Malcor, who currently coaches Quentin Halys, the 75th ranked player in the world, have been a source of support and encouragement for their son.
The first tee-off was a momentous occasion for the family. Malcor's father, affectionately known as "Falc", was visibly moved by the experience. Pitkowski, on the other hand, experienced a roller coaster of emotions during the game, feeling both pride and enormous frustration at different points.
Malcor's performance did not disappoint. After 18 holes and 4 hours and 30 minutes, he managed to go down to -1 during the game, thanks to two consecutive birdies on holes 5 and 6. However, a struggle on the last hole resulted in a bogey, but his final score indicates he has the level to compete with the best.
The crowd during the tournament was larger than what Malcor is used to, and the wait between each shot in golf can be long and stressful. This caused spectators to constantly think about what happened, creating an atmosphere of anticipation. Malcor expressed some nervousness before his game, but also acknowledged the pressure to perform.
Jeff Lucquin, Ugo Malcor's coach, commented on his performance, praising his resilience and determination. Sarah Pitkowski, too, was proud of her son's performance, expressing her confidence in his ability to continue improving.
As Malcor continues his journey in the world of golf, one thing is certain: he has the support of his family, the admiration of his peers, and the attention of the golfing world. The Open de France is just the beginning for this promising young golfer.
