Skip the jabbing and get straight to the punch - that's the attitude of MMA fighter Sam Alvey, currently holding the Karate Combat heavyweight belt. On May 2nd in Dubai, he'll put his title on the line against striking legend Tyrone Spong in the main event of KC 54. But that's not all he's got his sights on.
In a conversation with MMA Fighting, the unfazed 'Smil'n' had some choice words for YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. "Hey Jake Paul, show some guts and fight me, you chicken!" he barked out, taking aim at the self-proclaimed 'Problem Child'.
Paul, who boasts five consecutive boxing wins over the likes of Nate Diaz, Mike Perry, and even Mike Tyson, is scheduled to duke it out with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 25th. But Alvey thinks Paul would rather steer clear of him. “I ain’t old enough, ain’t retired enough. And I ain’t small enough. I’m too young, too athletic, too big, and still active. That's his four criteria for picking an opponent," Alvey sneered.
It's worth mentioning that Alvey's last MMA fight was in May 2023, where he trumpeted a TKO victory over Cameron Graham in the third round. That marked the end of a nine-fight winless streak for him, following his departure from UFC.
