UFC postpones two bouts within mere 48 hours in Saudi Arabia
UFC Saudi Arabia: Canceled Battles Stymieing Fighters' Dreams
Get ready to pump your fists in frustration, UFC fans, as two planned matches for the UFC Saudi Arabia event, scheduled for February 1, have been scrapped. Let's take a look at the messy story surrounding these cancellations.
Andre Muniz vs. Ikram Aliskerov: Called Off Due to Visa Woes
Andre Muniz, fresh off a successful 2019 stint in the UFC after winning on Dana White's Contender Series, has been forced to postpone his next match against Ikram Aliskerov due to visa difficulties. The Russian Aliskerov, eager to rebound from his first-round knockout loss to Robert Whittaker in June 2024, will sadly have to wait for another opportunity. This unfortunate turn of events marks the second time their planned battle has been canceled.
Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady vs. Bolaji Oki: Another Casualty
Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady, a 29-year-old fighter from the Middle East, had been looking forward to entering the Octagon after appearing on DWCS. However, Bolaji Oki, who earned his place on the team during the same season as Al-Selwady, pulled out of the fight, causing Al-Selwady's participation in the UFC Saudi Arabia event to be put on ice.
These cancelations have dealt a blow to both fighters, who now need to reschedule their bouts. On a positive note, the main and co-main events for UFC Saudi Arabia, featuring Israel Adesanya and superstar Michael "Venom" Page, are still on track.
Here's the fight card for UFC Saudi Arabia:
- Israel Adesanya vs. Nassourdine Imavov - Middleweight
- Sharabutdin Magomedov vs. Michael Page - Middleweight
