UFC leader announces planned cage fight at the White House on Independence Day

The United States is set to witness an unprecedented spectacle as the White House lawn will play host to a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) event on July 4, 2026. This historic occasion marks the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Independence and will be the first time a professional MMA show is held at the presidential residence.

UFC President Dana White has confirmed the plans, indicating he will meet with former President Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump to finalize event details and logistics. The announcement has generated mixed reactions, with supporters within the MMA community welcoming the cultural significance of the event, and critics expressing concerns about the appropriateness of hosting a combat sport on the White House grounds.

The UFC, the largest and most successful organization in the world of MMA, is known for its blend of martial arts disciplines such as jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, boxing, and wrestling. Fights in MMA are no-holds-barred battles to submission or knockout, with male and female fighters generally allowed to use almost any technique to attack their opponents.

The idea for this event was first proposed by Donald Trump last year as part of the Semiquincentennial festivities. Trump, who is close friends with Dana White and has been a regular guest at UFC contests, is collaborating closely with White on organizing the show. Ivanka Trump is also involved in the discussions to help shape the event plans.

The event is scheduled to be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+ under a new media rights deal. As the UFC continues to grow under Dana White's leadership, this event promises to be a significant milestone in the organization's history.
