UAV landing area experiences fire extinguishing incident
In a significant escalation of tension, Ukraine launched a series of drone attacks on the Russian region of Stavropol Krai on July 25-26, 2025. The attacks targeted two major industrial facilities crucial to Russia’s military-industrial complex.
The primary target was the Signal radio plant, a key manufacturer of electronic warfare equipment for front-line Russian aircraft. The drone strikes hit buildings housing expensive imported computer numerical control equipment and a radio-electronics workshop, causing substantial damage. The Signal radio plant forms part of Rostec's KRET cluster, a significant supporter of Russia's defense sector.
Another target was the Nevinnomyssk Azot chemical plant, a strategic site producing ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, and ammonium nitrate, which is used in both agricultural applications and munitions such as artillery shells and rockets. The strike at this location reportedly caused 37 impacts, triggered explosions visible in footage, and initially led to one injury. However, this was later revised to none. The plant had previously suspended operations following earlier attacks.
Stavropol Krai Governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed that the drone attacks caused small fires but no casualties. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its forces shot down dozens of Ukrainian drones during these coordinated strikes across several Russian regions, including five drones over Stavropol. However, they did not acknowledge all drones were intercepted.
The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) stated that these attacks aim to systematically disable Russian war-related facilities and reduce Moscow’s military capacity.
Despite these attacks, the supply of communal resources in Stavropol remains operational, and no residential buildings or city life support systems were damaged. The temporary restriction of mobile internet was implemented to protect against the attacks. The fire at the Signal radio plant was extinguished, and the fire at the Nevinnomyssk Azot chemical plant was reportedly brought under control.
This incident reflects ongoing Ukrainian efforts to target Russian supply chains deep inside Russia, indicating a continued escalation in the ongoing conflict.
