UAE jujitsu athletes secure three medals in the World Games Chengdu 2025 competition
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team continued its impressive run at the international stage, securing four medals at the World Games Chengdu 2025. The global sporting event, held in the Chinese city of Chengdu from Aug. 7-17, is a showcase for sports yet to be included in the Olympic Games.
The team's success was evident in the men's divisions, where Saeed Al-Kubaisi won gold in the under-85kg division, Mehdi Al-Awlaki took silver in the under-77kg division, and Mohammed Al-Suwaidi clinched silver in the under-69kg division, as well as a bronze in the open weight category.
In the women's open weight division, the Emirati athletes, Alhosani, Al-Amri, and Al-Kalbani, are set to compete on Tuesday.

They achieved two medals in 2017 (one gold and one silver in jiu-jitsu) and had their best performance in 2022 at Birmingham, where they won eight medals in total, including two golds in jiu-jitsu, muaythai, and freefall parachuting.
The 2025 Chengdu performance continued this trajectory of excellence, underscoring the UAE’s growing dominance in jiu-jitsu on the international stage. The team has consistently prepared through rigorous local and international training camps and benefited from strong federation support. This sustained success has contributed to the UAE moving up in the all-time World Games medal rankings, reaching 56th place after 2022.
