Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Launch in Dubai Celebrates Wizarding World

In July 2016, the much-anticipated book launch of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child took place at the Virgin Megastore inside Dubai's Mall of the Emirates. Fans gathered at 2 a.m. for the launch, with the book going on sale at 3 a.m. to coincide with the UK midnight release.

The event was a celebration of the wizarding world, created by J K Rowling, which has previously captivated fans in the UAE. The store was decorated with gold and black balloons, and a foil balloon in the shape of the Snitch added a touch of magic to the atmosphere.

Fans of the book turned out in their best Harry Potter attire. Some dressed up as their favourite characters, with a woman wearing a lavender wig, possibly in honor of Nymphadora Tonks. Others wore the wizard's signature round eyeglasses. A particularly memorable sight was some fans who wore makeup pencils to create lightning-shaped scars on their foreheads, reminiscent of the iconic scar of Harry Potter himself.

A Professor Snape look-alike was also present, with distinctive features including a nose, severe black hairstyle, and kohl around the eyes. The Harry Potter movie theme music played in the background during the event, adding to the magical atmosphere.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a two-part play with its official premiere in London's West End. The book is co-written by J K Rowling and is set 19 years after the conclusion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The play features a grown-up Harry Potter struggling to balance his life as a father and an employee of the Ministry of Magic.

Black picnic tables were set up to mimic the Hogwarts Great Hall, providing a suitable setting for the book launch. The launch did not occur at Dubai's Mall of the Emirates, as previously reported, but rather at the Virgin Megastore within the mall.

The Harry Potter: The Exhibition is also set to open at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, offering fans a chance to immerse themselves in the wizarding world once again. The exhibition promises to bring the magic of Harry Potter to life through a range of props, costumes, and sets from the films.
