The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Strengthens Ties with Moldova and Pakistan Through Visa Exemption Agreements

In a significant move to facilitate easier travel and bolster bilateral relations, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently signed mutual visa exemption agreements with two countries: Moldova and Pakistan.

On early August 2025, the UAE and Moldova inked a mutual visa exemption agreement during a meeting in Abu Dhabi. The agreement allows citizens of both countries to travel visa-free between each other. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mihai Popșoi, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Sheikh Abdullah expressed the UAE’s interest in establishing advanced and distinguished cooperative relations with Moldova. The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and expand joint cooperation across various fields, including the economic, commercial, and investment sectors.

On June 25, 2025, the UAE and Pakistan also signed a mutual visa exemption agreement. However, this agreement applies specifically to holders of diplomatic and official passports. This agreement came into effect on July 25, 2025, allowing diplomatic and official passport holders from both countries to enter visa-free.

These visa exemption agreements aim to foster closer ties and promote cooperation between the UAE and the respective countries. While the agreement with Moldova is immediate and applies to general travelers (tourism/business), the agreement with Pakistan is limited to diplomatic and official passport holders.

These developments mark a significant step forward in the UAE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its relationships with various countries and foster a global network of cooperation.
