UAE Aims for Historic Super Four Berth Against Pakistan in Asia Cup
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will face Pakistan in their Group A Asia Cup game at Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday, with a chance to make history. The UAE, coached by Lalchand Rajput, has been in fine form, having defeated India in the Asia Cup tournament and securing a comprehensive win over Oman in their previous game.
Lalchand Rajput has stated that his team is familiar with Pakistan's strengths, having played them in a recent tri-series. He emphasized that the UAE will strive to play their best cricket in the upcoming game against Pakistan. The UAE coach believes that if his team can put up a good performance, they can make it to the Super Four.
The UAE team consists of Alishan Sharafu, Muhammad Waseem (captain), Muhammad Zohaib, Asif Khan, Harshit Kaushik, Rahul Chopra (wicket-keeper), Dhruv Parashar, Haider Ali, Muhammad Rohid Khan, Muhammad Jawadullah, and Junaid Siddique.
The match comes amidst a cloud of uncertainty, with Pakistan reportedly threatening to boycott the game if match referee Andy Pycroft is not removed from the tournament following the handshake controversy in the previous match between India and Pakistan. Indian players refused to shake hands with the Pakistan team following their seven-wicket win.
Pakistan's team includes Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Salman Ali Agha (captain), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Abrar Ahmed.
If the UAE wins against Pakistan, they will qualify for the Super Four, a significant achievement for the team. Lalchand Rajput hopes to help his team earn this historic berth. The game will start at 6:30 pm.
