In the world of golf, excitement is building as two major broadcasting platforms, Movistar Plus+ and Amazon Prime Video, have announced their involvement in bringing the LIV Golf League to viewers.

The LIV Golf League, which boasts golfing greats such as Jon Rahm, Sergio García, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Cameron Smith, will now be available on Movistar Plus+ in Spain. This move has, however, faced criticism, but the anticipation for the league's debut on the platform remains high.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Amazon Prime Video is set to air four hours of exclusive live coverage of the US Masters golf next year. This partnership marks an exciting expansion for Amazon's sports offerings, following their successful broadcast of the 2023 Masters Tournament series in the U.S. region. Jay Marine, Head of Prime Video US and Global Sports, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We're thrilled to become a broadcast partner of the Masters Tournament."

Augusta National, the prestigious venue for the Masters Tournament, has previously licensed broadcasters on a limited scale, earning relatively small financial returns. However, the financial details of the rights agreement between Amazon and Augusta remain undisclosed.

The US Masters golf is not the only tournament to set records this year. The Open at Royal Portrush saw each day set a record average audience for its respective day. Sky Sports' coverage of the event generated 21.2 million viewer hours, a significant 36% increase year-on-year.

In a bid to further enhance their sports offerings, Sky Deutschland's premium live sports offering, including Bundesliga, is now available as an add-on channel on Amazon Prime Video in Germany. Additionally, Paramount+ will screen the first two hours of the day to US audiences on Saturday and Sunday. On the other hand, the CBS Network will pick up coverage on Saturday and Sunday.

Disney-owned ESPN will show the rest of the day's action on linear and streaming channels, ensuring comprehensive coverage for golf enthusiasts. Eugenio López Chacarra and David Puig, two Spanish golfers, are also set to be part of the LIV Golf League on Movistar Plus+, adding to the anticipation for the league's Spanish debut.

As these changes unfold, it's an exciting time for golf fans, with more opportunities than ever to stay connected with their favourite tournaments and players.
