U.S. President Trump to Enforce 30-Day Ceasefire in Ukraine, Prepared to Impose Sanctions if Necessary - U.S.: Trump Orders 30-Day Truce in Ukraine, Threatens Sanctions if Necessary

Following a heated conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, and Donald Trump, the US Prez, there's a whiff of a truce in the air. Zelensky announced late on a Thursday evening via popular online platforms that the idea of a 30-day truce is up for grabs, even as we speak.

In his zeal to put an end to the armed conflict, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine's willingness for a ceasefire was as genuine as ever. But first, Moscow needs to show some serious signs of readiness to halt the hostilities, Zelensky maintained. An unconditional ceasefire would be a first move in that direction.

Trump, not one to shy away from a good ol' fight, probability-checked and raised the stakes, by calling for an instant 30-day ceasefire. And looming in the shadows, Trump made it clear that if the truce isn't honored, the US, together with its allies, will escalate sanctions. Short and sweet, that message went up on his online platform Truth Social, presumably directed at Russia.

Trump's Peace Pursuit: Ukraine and Russia in the Crosshairs

Before he took office, Trump flaunted his swagger, promising to bring the Ukraine conflict to a close in a mere 24 hours. Returning to the White House, Trump dove straight into Russian President Vladimir Putin's inner circle, fueling international criticism in the process.

Recently, Trump has been at the end of his tether - frustrations targeted at both Zelensky and Putin. A permanent peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine stays out of reach.

On this particular Thursday, Trump emphasized his craving for peace between these two adversaries. "Things could move with impressive speed, and I'll be on standby, ready to jump in if needed," Trump wrote, followed by, "With a hopeful sigh, I look forward to a true ceasefire being observed, with both sides held accountable for honoring the sanctity of these negotiations."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has repeatedly dropped hints that the USA may choose to part ways with its peace-brokering endeavors in Ukraine, if the situation stagnates.

Back in Ukraine, the belief in a 30-day ceasefire with Russia has been a consistent theme. Andriy Yermak, Kyiv's chief of staff, expressed Ukraine's stance via Telegram: "A complete and unconditional ceasefire must be the initial step towards a fair and durable peace," he wrote. Ukraine has been on the frontlines of the Russian invasion for a staggering three years.

While there hasn't been a definitive response from Russia yet, international pressure is building for Putin to agree to a truce. The European Union and other Western nations have lined up in support of the proposed ceasefire.
