Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has lashed out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing him of lying and sabotaging the planned US-Ukraine commodity deal that Bessent touts as a "win-win" situation for both countries. During a right-wing talk show appearance, Bessent criticized Zelenskyy for deceitfully handling negotiations and shelving the deal.
Meanwhile, tension escalated between the two nations following Russia’s deadly airstrike on the Ukrainian city of Kryvyj Rih, a hometown of Zelenskyy. With 18 deaths, nine children among them, Zelenskyy has expressed disappointment with the US embassy's response, which he considers weak and unacceptable. He was particularly dismayed that the statement failed to explicitly name Russia as the perpetrator of the attack.
Bessent further stated that the minerals deal would offer numerous benefits for both nations, strengthening their bond, signaling support to the Russian leadership, and showcasing the US’s economic interest without providing handouts. He remains optimistic that the deal will still be concluded, despite the setbacks.
On another note, the Russian military launched drone swarms over Ukraine in the evening, causing impacts in various parts of the country and setting two residential buildings on fire in Mykolajiw. While no information on casualties is available, air defense systems targeted the drones.

The Kryvyj Rih bombing has prompted Ukraine to declare a national day of mourning, observed throughout the country from Monday to Wednesday. In addition, Volodymyr Zelensky has warned the world against silence, fearing that inaction will only encourage Russia to intensify its attacks and ignore diplomatic efforts.
In other news, Ukrainian forces have reportedly destroyed a rare Russian Tirada-2 system, as revealed by Defense Express citing Ukrainian military-released footage. This system was developed by the Russian Ministry of Defense and is used for jamming electronic radio communications.
As the death toll from the Russian rocket attack on Kryvyj Rih climbs, authorities have confirmed that 74 more individuals were injured, including 12 children, who remain in critical condition. Tymofij, a three-year-old, Arina, a seven-year-old, and Herman, a nine-year-old, are among the dead, members of a targeted group named "The Base," based in the United States, have called for assassinations and attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
On the brighter side, Ukraine has expanded cooperation with Rheinmetall by discussing additional military aid and a long-term strategy for reforming the Ukrainian armed forces with representatives of the Ukrainian leadership. In addition, France and the UK have discussed sending further military aid to Ukraine during their chiefs of staff's visit to Kyiv to explore options for security guarantees within the international coalition supporting Ukraine.
