Let's dive right into it! The US's recent actions in Iran have certainly stirred up a hornet's nest. The US Department of State issued a statement warning its citizens of potential trouble abroad following a conflict between Israel and Iran. The position of the US has led to temporary airspace closures and the possibility of demonstrations targeting US citizens within the entire Middle East.

In a daring move, the US, under President Donald Trump, decided to intervene militarily in the war between Israel and Iran on Sunday night. The B-2 combat jets and GBU-57 bombs were deployed, capable of obliterating even the most secure underground targets. The decision put an end to days of speculation about a potential US military intervention.

Prior to the confrontation, tensions had been high between the two nations as Trump repeatedly expressed his concern over Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons. The US had also been pushing for cease-fire negotiations regarding uranium enrichment activities with Iran for quite some time.

Israel, the US's ally, sparked the conflict a week earlier by launching a significant assault on over two dozen Iranian nuclear facilities and military installations. Israel justifies its actions as "preemptive," claiming it's crucial to prevent Iran from developing nuclear capabilities. Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons and has retaliated with rockets and drones in response.

Following the US attacks on Sunday, Trump addressed the leadership in Tehran, saying "either there will be peace, or a catastrophe even worse than what we've experienced in the past eight days." Trump labeled Iran as the "despot of the Middle East," referring to the Islamist militias backed by Iran in Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, and Yemen.

Iran, in response, made a clear threat of retaliation against the US following the attacks. An advisor to the spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Chamenei identified US military bases as "legitimate targets" for future attacks originating from Tehran.

"Any nation in the region or beyond that serves as a base for American operations against Iran will be considered a legitimate target by our forces," Ali Akbar Velayati overtly stated.

Meanwhile, Iran's recent actions triggered uncertainty about the potential for a wider conflict. Consequentially, oil prices temporarily spiked by over 4% at the start of trading in Asia on Monday.

The US had already commenced evacuation flights for its citizens from Israel and regions within the West Bank, and it also ordered its diplomatic staff to leave from Iraq and Lebanon.

The Israeli military reported further attacks on Iranian military targets on Monday, with approximately 20 Israeli Air Force fighter jets executing "intelligence-supported" attacks with over 30 projectiles on Iranian military facilities. Isfahan, Fordo, and Natans were among the core targets, aimed at disrupting infrastructure for rocket storage and launch as well as military satellites and radar installations.

In a bold move early Monday morning, Trump announced "monumental damage" to all Iranian nuclear facilities targeted by the US. Satellite images backed up Trump's claims, although there were varying reports on the extent of the destruction in Iranian uranium enrichment facilities.

Moreover, Trump hinted at a potential overhaul of the Iranian government. "It's not politically correct to use the term 'regime change,'" he explained on Sunday at Truth Social. "But if the current Iranian regime is incapable of making Iran great again, why shouldn't there be a regime change?" he wrote, parading his trademark slogan: "MIGA!" (Make Iran Great Again).

While all the fuss has been brewing in the Middle East, isolated North Korea has voiced its outrage over the US actions in Iran. North Korea, known for its hostile attitude towards the US, denounced the US's strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities in the strongest terms possible. North Korea believes this action represents a breach of the UN Charter and a lack of regard for national sovereignty.

It's worth noting that North Korea has been developing and strengthening its nuclear and missile programs, despite existing UN sanctions and support from major allies like Russia and China. To date, there has been no significant comment from North Korea regarding the US's intervention in Iran.

  1. Despite the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, North Korea has expressed strong disagreement with the US's actions in Iran, viewing the strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities as a violation of the UN Charter and disregard for national sovereignty.
  2. As the US and Iran continue their tense standoff, the employment policy within the EC countries may experience adjustments, particularly in sectors related to security, foreign affairs, and economy, as the potential for wider conflicts and oil price fluctuations necessitate careful strategic planning and emergency measures.
