Headline: Is the U.S. Ready to Strike Iran's Nuclear Facility? Trump Hints at Possible Intervention

Insight: The United States, under President Donald Trump, has reportedly approved attack plans targeting Iran's Fordo nuclear facility but has not made a final decision to carry out a strike as of June 2025.

The US is said to be on the brink of militarily intervening in Israel's ongoing conflict with Iran. Top US government officials are allegedly preparing for a strike against Iran, according to reports from Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal. Trump has reportedly authorized the attack plans but is holding back the order, waiting for the right moment.

Preparations for an imminent strike are underway, with some insiders suggesting an attack as early as this weekend. However, the volatile situation could change rapidly.

Taking Aim at Fordo: The Fordo nuclear facility, which lies nearly indestructible 90 meters deep in a mountain, could be the target of the strike, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. A few bombs or missiles could reach the facility, experts agree. However, Donald Trump's former national security advisor, John Bolton, believes that the Israelis alone would not be able to attack Fordo. He told the "Spiegel" that the US would have to intervene if they suspected work on a potential atomic bomb there.

Trump's Changing Stance: When asked by reporters at the White House whether he would intervene against Iran, Trump was non-committal, stating, "Maybe I will, maybe I won't." In the past, he had presented himself as more restrained, promising that the US would not engage in additional wars during his term. However, people close to Trump have reportedly warned him about the dangers posed by a nuclear Iran, leading to a shift in his stance.

"We must do what we must do" Trump said yesterday, expressing a desire for "total, complete victory" over Iran. He emphasized that his vision of victory included no nuclear weapons. However, Ayatollah Ali Chamenei, the leader of Iran, has shown no signs of surrendering in the war or abandoning his nuclear ambitions. "The Iranian people are determined and will resist both an imposed war and an imposed peace," Chamenei stated yesterday.
