Shudokan Judo Club of Hilo Shines at USJF Summer National Judo Championships

The Shudokan Judo Club of Hilo made a strong showing at the recent USJF Summer National Judo Championships, held at the Hawaii Convention Center on Oahu from July 19-20.

The event, hosted by the 50th State Judo Association, attracted over 800 competitors from the mainland and Canada. Among the impressive performances by the Shudokan Judo Club of Hilo students were six bronze medals, five silver medals, and eight gold medals.

Individual medalists from the club include Makoa Kalili, David Sakai, Reilly Uyetake, Rohen Uyetake, Elijah Kurohara, Irie Sakai, Karis Matsuo, James (Trae) Rome, and Kolten Sewake, who all won bronze medals. Solomon Sakai also added to the club's tally with a bronze medal.

The club's gold medalists included Alei'a Kurohara, Kyo Kobayashi, Demian Iida, Ace Kobayakawa, Kayako Kobayashi, Milla Sakai, Ihilani Sakai, and Iya Sadanchikova.

In the overall team standings, the Shudokan Judo Club of Hilo placed third, demonstrating their strong performance across all weight classes.
