Tyrese Haliburton's All-NBA Recognition Continues his Financial Ticking with Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton has been recognized as an All-NBA player for the second consecutive season. The NBA revealed the 2025 All-NBA teams on Friday night, with Haliburton earning a spot on the third team.

Haliburton, who made his first All-NBA team in 2024, experienced a slow start to the 2024-25 season. The Pacers also struggled during the initial month of the campaign, with Haliburton seeming out of sorts on the court.

However, Haliburton managed to recover his form by December, becoming one of the best guards in the league once again. The five-year pro expressed his renewed passion for the game at the time, and this was reflected in his improved performance on the court. His impact increased significantly, resulting in numerous wins for the Pacers.

Haliburton's impressive run from December saw the Pacers finish the season with a record of 40-17 after the NBA Cup. During this period, he averaged 19.2 points and 9.6 assists per game. This stretch of exceptional play helped him secure his placement on the All-NBA team despite his underwhelming start.

"He's been able to thrive, especially in this system, his fast pace," Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James commented on Haliburton earlier in the season. "The more and more he plays, the better and better he gets."

In addition to Haliburton, Cade Cunningham, Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Williams, and James Harden were also named to the third team. Indiana forward Pascal Siakam, who was an All-Star this season, received four votes for third-team All-NBA.

Haliburton's repeated inclusion in the All-NBA team could have financial implications in the future. If he maintains his service in the NBA for seven or more years and continues to meet certain criteria, he may become eligible for a Designated Player Veteran Extension (DVPE). This extension could potentially secure him a significant contract extension after the 2026-27 season.

Only the Pacers can offer the DVPE to Haliburton, making them delighted at the prospect of extending their star guard in a few years. Haliburton should also be thrilled about the possibility of signing a more lucrative contract sooner.

The Pacers and Haliburton enter the offseason with confidence. The team is currently competing in the Eastern Conference Finals, while Haliburton has now twice been recognized as one of the best players in the league. This award is a testament to Haliburton's talent and a positive sign for the Pacers' ongoing team-building efforts.

  1. Tyrese Haliburton's impressive play, particularly his fast-paced performances, helped the Indiana Pacers secure numerous wins and finish the 2024-25 season with a record of 40-17.
