In a shocking turn of events, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been formally charged with the murder of Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative youth group Turning Point USA and a close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The shooting took place on September 10, 20XX, during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, approximately 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. Kirk was fatally shot with a bolt-action rifle, according to Utah County attorney Jeff Gray, who announced the charges against Robinson.

Robinson is accused of intentionally causing the death of Kirk and faces charges that also include aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.

The charges against Robinson come after a 33-hour manhunt, during which he was arrested Thursday night, some 260 miles (418 km) southwest of the crime scene. The arrest followed alerts from relatives and a family friend who reported that Robinson had implicated himself in the shooting.

Forensic evidence also points to Robinson's involvement in the crime. His DNA was found on the trigger of the gun used to kill Kirk.

The shooting of Kirk, a prominent conservative figure, sparked widespread shock and condemnation. The Utah governor, Spencer Cox, named Robinson as the suspect in the killing. Prosecutors have announced their intention to seek the death penalty for Robinson due to the great risk of death to others posed by the charges against him.
