Two young athletes, Linda Geerdts and Julia Lewitzki, have clinched the title of Hamburg's champions in the U18 division.

The annual Hamburg individual championships for U18 and U21 took place at the state performance center in Eulenkamp, and several promising athletes from various clubs made their mark.

Linda Geerdts, a judo prodigy from HTB, secured third place in the -57kg U21 class, demonstrating her skill and determination. Not to be outshone, Geerdts also qualified for the North German championships in the same weight class. This will be her first time participating in the North German championships.

HTB was well-represented at the championships, with a total of five athletes in attendance. In addition to Geerdts, Xenia Scheit also impressed, securing third place in the -57kg U18 class. Scheit, who recently qualified for the North German championships, is poised to make a strong showing in Visbek.

The judo department of HTB also secured two seventh places in the U18 -66kg and two fifth places, one in the U18 -55kg and one in the U21 -73kg. These placements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the HTB athletes.

KSC Bushido athletes also returned from the championships with two Hamburg champion titles and several good placements. In the 78kg U18 weight class, Julia Lewitzki secured a medal place and was crowned Hamburg champion. The three female starters from KSC Bushido all secured a medal place at the championships, further solidifying the club's reputation.

Jan Henrik John, another promising athlete from HTB, looked optimistically towards the future after achieving fifth place at the Hamburg individual championships. John started in the men's -81kg class in the U21 age group and put up a valiant fight.

Adriano Americo, a judoka from KSC Bushido, passed the blue belt exam at the end of last year and made a strong impression at the Hamburg championships. Americo won two of his four fights with beautiful techniques, earning him the title of vice Hamburg champion in the weight class up to 90kg in both U18 and U21.

The first selection takes place at the Hamburg individual championships for the way to qualifying for the German individual championships. The North German championships, which will take place on February 17/18 in Visbek, are the last "hurdle" before the German championship in Leipzig. While the date for the German championship in Leipzig has not been specified, judo enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the results from the North German championships to see which athletes will represent Germany at the national level.
