Two-wheeled vehicles manufactured by Yamaha announce price decreases, reaching a maximum of ₹17,500, following the reduction in GST from September 22nd.
In a strategic move to compete effectively in the Indian market, Yamaha Motor Company has announced price reductions across several of its two-wheeler models. The reduction in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on two-wheelers is expected to stimulate demand, particularly during the festive season, especially in rural markets where affordability is a significant factor.
The new prices, effective immediately, apply to popular models such as the Yamaha R15, MT15, Aerox 155, RayZR, Fascino, FZ-S Fi Hybrid, and FZ-X Hybrid. The Yamaha MT15, for instance, has seen a price decrease of nearly ₹15,000, bringing its cost down to ₹1.94 lakh. The Aerox 155 maxi-scooter, on the other hand, has experienced a price cut of approximately ₹12,800.
Yamaha insists that the entire benefit of the lower GST will be passed onto buyers without holding back any money. This move is expected to give the company a competitive edge in a market where it competes with brands like Hero, Honda, KTM, and Bajaj. Every price advantage counts in the market, as Yamaha often competes with these brands on the commuter side and with KTM and Bajaj on the performance end.
The reduction in GST could influence a buyer's decision between an ICE commuter, a scooter, or a premium 150cc motorcycle. For example, the price of the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid and FZ-X Hybrid models has decreased by about ₹12,000 each, making them more appealing to potential buyers.
In addition to these price adjustments, Yamaha has also launched the 2025 Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid with new features, priced from ₹80,750. The RayZR scooter model has also become cheaper by about ₹7,700, while the Fascino scooter has seen a price reduction of approximately ₹8,500.
Itaru Otani, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, expressed gratitude towards the government for the GST reduction on two-wheelers. He believes that this move will generate momentum not just for Yamaha but across the two-wheeler segment.
As the festive season approaches, it seems that Yamaha is betting on lower prices, combined with the festive sentiment, to drive sales. A few thousand rupees saved due to the GST reduction could be decisive for a purchase to occur during this period.
