René Rast Secures Dominant Victory in DTM Race 2 at Nürburgring

In a thrilling display of driving skill and car performance, René Rast claimed a resounding victory in the DTM Race 2 at Nürburgring on August 10, 2025. The German driver, behind the wheel of the No. 33 Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO, secured his 30th career DTM victory in a race that was marked by aggressive overtaking and strategic brilliance.

Starting from seventh on the grid, Rast quickly demonstrated his prowess, advancing through the field and taking the lead within six laps. He maintained control of the race, finishing nearly 8 seconds ahead of his teammate Marco Wittmann, who claimed second place. Lucas Auer, driving for Team Landgraf, finished third, reclaiming the championship lead for Landgraf Mercedes.

Rast's driving and the BMW's performance were a surprise to many, including the driver himself. Rast praised the car's exceptional connection to the track, which enabled him to pursue an aggressive overtaking strategy early in the race. He passed five cars in the initial laps, overtook Auer for second, and caught and passed Ben Doerr for the lead prior to the pit stops.

The Schubert Motorsport strategy also proved effective, securing a BMW 1-2 finish. Rast made key overtakes on-track and managed his pit windows efficiently, pitting later than some rivals to maintain track position. Wittmann, however, struggled somewhat with tire performance during the initial stint, which limited his ability to keep up with Rast but still secured second place.

Auer's team, Landgraf Mercedes, had a slower second pit stop, which compromised Auer's challenge for the win but he still finished on the podium, gaining valuable championship points and regaining the overall championship lead.
