Coach Dieter Hecking, who had already accepted the team's destiny for the 2. Bundesliga, remains a prime contender for next season. RB Leipzig, who failed to secure a spot in the Champions League, fell to Werder Bremen in a 0:0 draw, with both teams needing to aim for the Conference League next season.
