FYIMoshe Gavrieli (Oakland, CA) bagged $200,303 and a coveted gold bracelet in Event #60, while Craig Savage (Plano, TX) took home $229,628 as his biggest win yet from Event #61.

Gavrieli hunkers down in Limit Hold'em showdown

Moshe Gavrieli, a house painter with a passion for poker, navigated a field of 343 players in Event #60: $3,000 Limit Hold'em. Known competitors like Roland Israelashvili, Juha Helppi, and Dan Idema had a shot, but Gavrieli was having none of it.

Heads-up against Scott Bohlman, the top performer of the summer, Gavrieli maintained control throughout the match. He sealed the deal by hitting a flush on the turn in the closing game. With a beaming grin, Gavrieli declared, "Poker is my game, my excel. I needed to prove something, and voila!"

Savage wreaks havoc in massive freezeout

Over in Event #61: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout, Craig Savage crushed one of the largest events of the series. A whopping 5,082 entries built a prize pool of $2.1 million, with Savage taking the lion's share- $229,628.

The final table featured Arthur Morris, a seasoned veteran, and several newcomers seeking their first deep WSOP run. At times Savage struggled, but timely double-ups and clutch plays, such as a king-jack triumph over Morris' ace-king, kept him afloat. A decisive hand against pocket fours solidified Savage's dominance.

In the final showdown, Savage presented pocket queens, which held up against Tony Harrison's ace-king. A cautious board runout secured the win for Savage.
