Two new bike paths advance at different paces amid legal hurdles
Plans for two new bike paths in the region are moving forward, though at different speeds. One route along K94 remains held up by objections, while early work on the L289 path has already started. Both projects aim to improve cycling connections between local villages.
The bike path along K94, linking Steimke and Brome, faces delays due to ongoing legal challenges. Despite €600,000 being set aside for the project, construction cannot begin before October 2026—assuming no further appeals are lodged. The county (Landkreis) oversees this route, as district roads like K94 fall under its responsibility.
If no new objections arise, work on the K94 path could start in late 2026. The L289 project, however, is still in early planning, with the first segment now taking shape. Both routes will eventually provide safer cycling links across the region once completed.
