It was later revealed that relatives of the men had contacted rescue services, reporting that the fishermen had gone out on the lake but were unable to return to their vehicle.
Local residents had set out for the lake in the morning, but as they fished, the weather suddenly worsened. Snow covered the trail, leaving them unable to find the path they had taken into the forest. With no way out, the fishermen retreated to the lake, where they found higher ground and managed to call their families and rescuers for help.
Rescue teams from "SPAS-KOMI" traveled along the 15-kilometer road between Troitsko-Pechorsk and Pokcha, venturing 2.5 kilometers into the forest before spotting tracks. Within 40 minutes, they located the men and guided them safely back to the road after nightfall. No medical assistance was required.
