A prohibition on driving for two actors from the 'Harry Potter' series lasting six months - Two lead actors from "Harry Potter" films receive a six-month driving ban
In an unexpected turn of events, two stars of the beloved "Harry Potter" series, Zoe Wanamaker and Emma Watson, have both been issued driving bans.
Zoe Wanamaker, who played the Quidditch teacher Madam Hooch in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," was banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding on the M4 motorway in southeastern Berkshire last August. The court in High Wycombe handed down the ban, which came with a fine of £1,044 (€1,200). Interestingly, Wanamaker was not present at the hearings where the fine was issued.
Emma Watson, who played the iconic role of Hermione Granger, was also issued a driving ban. The incident occurred in the same region as Wanamaker's, but on a different road. Watson was behind the wheel of a blue Audi when she was caught speeding. Like her fellow "Harry Potter" cast member, Watson did not attend the hearings where the fine was issued, and her driving license was revoked for a certain period. The court in High Wycombe also handled Watson's case independently.
At the time of the incidents, Watson was studying at Oxford University. Her lawyer stated that she was financially capable of paying the fine despite her studies.
This news comes as a surprise to fans of the series, who have always admired Watson and Wanamaker for their outstanding performances in the films. Both actresses have maintained a high level of professionalism throughout their careers, and this incident does not seem to have affected their standing in the entertainment industry.
