Two individuals tragically lost their lives in their homes in Queens, according to the authorities, in distinct occurrences.
In a shocking turn of events, a 25-year-old man from Queens, Carl Muraco, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with two separate homicides in Astoria and East Elmhurst.
The first victim, Dashanna Donovan, a 21-year-old woman, was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head in her apartment on 96th Avenue near Astoria Boulevard. The murder is believed to have taken place late Saturday night, according to NYPD officials.
In a separate incident, the body of John Muraco, a 76-year-old man, was discovered fatally stabbed in his home on 102nd Street near 159th Avenue in Howard Beach. The shooting occurred on Friday night.
Carl Muraco was arrested Sunday morning and is facing murder and weapons charges in both cases. As of now, detectives are still investigating the motive behind the attacks. Despite attempts, John Muraco's lawyer could not be reached for comment.
In the East Elmhurst case, police are seeking a man who was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black sneakers, and a black bookbag in connection with the homicide. As of early Tuesday, police did not have a clear motive for the East Elmhurst homicide.
