In the heart of Iloilo, the war against illegal drugs is heating up! Over the course of two eventful days, May 1st and 4th, two major figures in the local drug scene, nicknamed "Acey" and "Atik", were nabbed in separate busts by the bold Station Drug Enforcement Teams (SDET) of the Estancia and Balasan Municipal Police Stations (MPS).

The combined street value of the confiscated shabu from these arrests? A jaw-dropping PHP 1,200,000!

Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Director, Police Colonel Bayani M. Razalan, marked these operations as clear victories in the ongoing battle against illegal substances, applauding the cooperation of local residents and the relentless efforts of the police force.

During the bust in Estancia, Acey - a 27-year-old laborer from Poblacion Zone 2 - was caught red-handed in the early hours of May 1st, following two months of surveillance due to concerns about his involvement in illegal activities. When the police struck, they seized a whopping 127 grams of suspected shabu, worth approximately PHP 867,476. Despite his questionable past, which includes theft charges and an outstanding warrant, Acey originated his operation from Iloilo City and Roxas City, Capiz.

Meanwhile, the SDET of Balasan MPS swooped in on "Atik" at 6:40 a.m. on April 30th, in Barangay Maya. Atik, an unemployed 42-year-old, also from Poblacion Zone 2, was accused of distributing drugs in various locations, including Balasan, Estancia, and Batad. During the raid, the authorities netted around 52 grams of suspected drugs, worth approximately PHP 353,600.

Both arrested individuals are now in lockup at their respective MPS stations, facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, aka the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The IPPO is determined to step up their anti-drug efforts in the region, encouraging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities to local authorities. After all, teamwork is the key to a safer Iloilo!
