Most Wanted Alleged Rapist Nabbed in Tagbilaran City
Last Monday, April 21, 2025, a top 10 most wanted person regional level, known as alias Carmelo, a 35-year-old construction worker from Ubujan, Tagbilaran, was arrested for rape charges following a lengthy hunt by the Tagbilaran City Police Station.
The warrant of arrest for Carmelo, issued by the Tagbilaran court, was served at around 7 PM, related to a 13-year-old's allegations from January 2024. Police Lieutenant Colonel John Kareen Escober, in charge of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, revealed that Carmelo had lured the victim to his house and subsequently sexually assaulted her.
As Carmelo was being detained, rumors surfaced that he had been spotted in several places within Ubujan and had recently returned a week prior with new information about his whereabouts. Escober enlisted the help of a tracker team consisting of members from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) - Bohol Provincial Field Unit, 702nd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7, Regional Intelligence Unit, Maritime Police Bohol, and intense surveillance efforts were made to apprehend Carmelo.
At around 10:30 AM the next day, another most wanted person regional level, Jeanette Valle, a 54-year-old contractor from Barangay Poblacion, Bilar, Bohol, was arrested. Valle had a warrant of arrest for an estafa case with a court-estimated value of P180,000.
Escober commended the joint efforts between the community, local government, and law enforcement agencies for contributing to the city's peace and safety. He noted that with the cooperation of the public and the constant vigilance of the police, they could maintain the city's tranquility and ensure the welfare of their citizens.
Escober revealed that they would continue tracking down individuals with pending warrants of arrest who were believed to be hiding in Tagbilaran City, striving to cleanse the city of criminal influences and uphold a clean and safe environment for its residents.
