Two individuals affiliate with Scottie Scheffler make up the U.S. Ryder Cup squad
The 2025 Ryder Cup, set to take place at Bethpage Black, is quickly approaching, and the United States team is starting to take shape. Six players have already secured their spots through the U.S. points system.
J.J Spaun, the U.S. Open winner, has qualified for his first Ryder Cup as a rookie. His impressive third runner-up finish in the FedEx St. Jude Championship moved him to the second position in the U.S. team points standings. Xander Schauffele, a seasoned Ryder Cup participant with two previous appearances, has also been confirmed for the team.
The six automatic qualifiers, as of August 18, 2025, are Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau. The remaining 12 spots on the United States' squad are yet to be finalized, with Keegan Bradley, the team captain, set to announce the captain's picks on August 27, 2025.
Meanwhile, the European team has announced three of its members: Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Justin Rose. The European team, which won the 2023 Ryder Cup hosted in Italy, will travel to the U.S. for the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Interestingly, Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele have a history of playing together in the last four Presidents and Ryder Cups, winning three of those competitions. They are set to play together at Bethpage Black in six weeks. If the United States wins the 2025 Ryder Cup, it will be the first win for J.J Spaun and the first win as captain for Keegan Bradley.
As the countdown to the Ryder Cup continues, anticipation builds for the remaining announcements of the U.S. team and the final showdown between the two teams at Bethpage Black.
