Two individuals, a teacher and a farmer, suffer injuries in a shooting incident, which unfolded in Isabela City.

In the small town of Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan, a public school teacher and a local farmer found themselves in the crosshairs of a hail of bullets on a sunny morning. Rubylen Villa Alay, a 43-year-old teacher at the Tairan Elementary School, and Emar Alan, a farmer from the same village, were making their way towards Isabela City on a motorcycle when they were ambushed by a pair of riding-in-tandem gunmen.

The attack occurred around 9:20 a.m. in Sumagdang village, Isabela City. Despite the harrowing experience, both victims miraculously survived, albeit wounded. They were hastily rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the fleeing suspects disappeared into the unknown.

Rubylen Villa Alay was slated to serve as the chairperson of the Special Electoral Board (SEB) in Lantawan for the upcoming midterm elections on May 12, 2025. Despite this terrifying incident, the police are bent on unraveling the mystery behind the attack.

An in-depth investigation is underway to ascertain the cold-blooded attack's motive and identify the unidentified assailants. To date, no updates have been released regarding the progress of the investigation or any potential suspects. The hunt for the gunmen responsible continues, as the peace and tranquility of the usually serene town are threatened by the chilling incident.
