Two adolescents in Magadan have been sentenced to five years in prison for the theft of a moped.
In the small village of Klepka, a 70-year-old resident reported the theft of his Honda Duo moped, parked on Central Street, on September 5th. The theft was later discovered to have been committed by two juveniles.
The stolen moped was found in an abandoned garage, and the Magadan Regional UMD press service confirmed the incident to a specific website. The Olscoe branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was informed about the theft, and a criminal case has been initiated under Article 158(2) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft).
The two juveniles intended to ride the repainted moped, but no information was provided about their current status. It's important to talk to children about the consequences of riding a moped without a license, and knowing who a teenager is with and what they're doing can help protect them from trouble. Organizing a teenager's free time is crucial for their protection.
Scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds are considered high-risk vehicles, and they can only be operated with a valid driver's license of the appropriate category. The moped has been seized and will be returned to the claimant once the investigation is complete.
The maximum penalty for this crime is imprisonment for up to five years. The authorities encourage anyone with information about the two juveniles involved in the theft to come forward and contact the local police.
