Peng Aeroht, a technology division majority-owned by Guangzhou-based Peng, experienced an in-flight collision involving its eVTOL aircraft during a pre-show rehearsal for the Changchun Air Show on September 16, 2022.
The collision involved two eVTOL aircraft operated by Peng Aeroht. Zhao Deli, the founder and president of Peng Aeroht, confirmed that at least one passenger was injured and transported to the hospital. Fortunately, the injured passenger did not have any life-threatening injuries, according to a report.
The incident is under further investigation, and Peng Aeroht has not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of the collision. However, an industry insider noted that accidents can occur due to route planning flaws or equipment failures in autonomous mode, and human operational errors in manual mode. The insider emphasized that the industry must approach safety with utmost caution, especially in low-altitude economic operations.

The company aims to achieve mass production and delivery of the modular flying car by 2026, with a price cap of no more than RMB 2 million ($281,134). The complete modular flying car system comprises a flying vehicle and a mother ship vehicle capable of recharging it.
