Twitch suspends VTuber Riley under aimbot allegations following a popular Battlefield 6 video clip
In the recent Battlefield 6 Beta preview, VTuber streamer Rileycs found themselves in hot water due to aimbot cheating accusations. A series of viral gameplay clips showcased suspicious shots, leading to mass reports and controversy.
The controversy reached a boiling point when Rileycs was banned from Twitch for a day. In an attempt to counter the allegations, Rileycs provided handcam footage as evidence of fair play. However, the ban was still enforced temporarily.
Three days later, on August 11, the ban was lifted after 24 hours. Twitch's policy for first-time offenders caught cheating is a one-day suspension, which Rileycs had hinted at being reinstated later that day.
The ban and subsequent lift have sparked debates within the Twitch community. Some prominent streamers like CouRage and Devin Nash commented that the one-day ban was "always worth it" given the massive surge in Rileycs’s viewership and visibility following the incident.
The aimbot cheating allegations come at a time when cheating has already been a major issue for Battlefield 6. EA's new anti-cheat system for Battlefield 6, Javelin, has reportedly blocked over 300,000 cheating attempts and logged more than 100,000 player reports in the first 48 hours of the beta.
It is unclear if Rileycs's Battlefield 6 game account has faced any action. EA has not confirmed any such action against Rileycs. The specific moment in Rileycs's viral clip that sparked cheating claims was a 180-degree turn and instant aim on a hidden enemy.
It is not specified if Rileycs's Twitch ban was related to their Battlefield 6 gameplay or other violations of Twitch's Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. Twitch did not publicly confirm permanent cheating or any further action against Rileycs.
