Twenty-year-old man identified in local reports as the unfortunate one who perished in Killarney river.
In the Woodlawn area of Killarney, a tragic incident occurred on a soccer pitch, claiming the life of a young man in his late 20s. The victim, Padraig (Paudie) O'Rahilly, hailed from Barraduff, east of Killarney, and was one of three children.
The incident was reported by Mr. O'Rahilly's friend, and it is believed that he may have been caught in a whirlpool in the river. However, the exact cause of the drowning remains unclear.
At around 3.30pm, emergency services, including paramedics, the fire service, and a doctor, were called to the scene. Witnesses from the soccer pitch also provided assistance.
