Twenty-five years of Harry Potter's presence graced the Hamburg town hall market
The world of Harry Potter is making a grand return to the stage, as the 25th anniversary of the first publication of J.K. Rowling's beloved series in Germany is celebrated in Hamburg's Town Hall Square on August 26, 2023. Under the motto "Back to Hogwarts", a diverse programme around the popular fantasy stories is planned for the event. The organisers of the event, Carlsen Verlag, Warner Bros. Discovery, Audible, and the audio publisher, have joined forces with the Hamburg show highlight "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" to create an unforgettable experience for fans. The Harry Potter series has captivated audiences worldwide, with over 600 million copies sold globally. The books have been translated into 85 languages, including German, and have been enjoyed by readers for a quarter of a century. The films based on the series have grossed over seven billion US dollars worldwide, making it one of the most successful film franchises in history. At the anniversary event, attendees can immerse themselves in the magical world of Harry Potter, with activities such as building their own creatures and wands to take home. Lego is also part of the event, recreating the magical duel against Lord Voldemort with tens of thousands of Lego bricks. Actors from the Hamburg Harry Potter theater production will also be on stage during the event, bringing the stories to life. A special guest at the event will be Rufus Beck, an actor and audiobook narrator, who will be reading out scenes from the books. Unfortunately, there is no information about who will replace Beck as a guest at the event. The organisers are aiming to start a world record by gathering more than 997 people dressed as Harry Potter with the three mandatory costume attributes: black cloak, glasses, and lightning scar. Further information about the anniversary programme can be found on the event website carlsen.de/event/harry-potter-25-jahre. The event is being held in collaboration with the city of Hamburg, promising a magical day for fans of all ages. After "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", seven more books were translated and published, with "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" being performed in Hamburg, New York, and Tokyo, among other places. The audiobooks of the Harry Potter series have been listened to over one billion hours on the Audible platform, further cementing the series' enduring popularity. Join the celebration of 25 years of Harry Potter and step back into the magical world of Hogwarts on August 26, 2023, in Hamburg's Town Hall Square.
