Hamburg, a city renowned for its continuous growth, is set to host a special event this August. On the 26th of August, 2023, the Town Hall Square will be transformed into a magical gathering for the anniversary of the German publication of the first Harry Potter book.

The Harry Potter universe, translated into 85 languages and selling over 600 million copies worldwide, has captivated the hearts of millions. The films based on J.K. Rowling's beloved series have grossed over seven billion US dollars worldwide, and the German premiere in Hamburg has been a resounding success.

The event will feature a world record attempt by gathering more than 997 people dressed as Harry Potter, each adorned with the three mandatory costume attributes: black cloak, glasses, and lightning scar. Lego will also be a part of the festivities, recreating the magical duel against Lord Voldemort with tens of thousands of Lego stones.

Actors from the local Harry Potter theater production will grace the stage, and a special guest, Rufus Beck, an actor and audiobook narrator, will read scenes from the books. Andreas Fröhlich, the voice behind the German Harry Potter audiobooks in 2023, is also expected to make an appearance.

Further information about the anniversary program can be found on the event website, carlsen.de. Participants can even build their own creatures and wands from the Lego stones to take home.

The cultural industry in Hamburg is being highlighted through events like this, showcasing the diverse city's charm and appeal. This magical anniversary is not to be missed!
