Twelve athletes will be Yakutia's representatives in the Russia Cup competition
In the heart of Yakutia, the "Tuymada" stadium recently played host to the republican archery championship, where athletes and veterans from various regions of the region competed. The event, organised to determine the representatives for the upcoming Cup of Russia in Cheboksary, saw a total of 68 athletes and 19 veterans take part.
The winners of the "classical bow" discipline were announced first. Samson Spiridonov, a native of the Viluisky district, emerged victorious, while Christina Drozd from the Aldansky district and Aysyna Vasilyeva and Vladimir Kim from the Suntar team claimed the second and third spots, respectively.
In an unexpected turn of events, the winners of the "block bow" discipline will not represent Yakutia at the upcoming Cup of Russia. This is because the rule states that the winners must have competed in both the "classical bow" and "block bow" disciplines. Unfortunately, the winners of the "block bow" discipline - Asim Pavlov from the Megino-Kangalassky district, and the Hangalassky team consisting of Yulia Markova and Pavel Martynov - did not compete in the "classical bow" discipline.
However, the top performer in the "block bow" discipline, Stepanya Artyukhova, along with Asim Pavlov, Asim Pavlov, Yulia Markova, and Pavel Martynov, will be part of the Yakutian team at the Cup of Russia. The exact composition of the 12-member team - six men and six women - has not been disclosed yet.
Roman Okonechnikov, the head of the regional Department of Physical Culture and Mass Sports, praised the performance of the Yakutian archers, noting their consistent high results at international and national tournaments.
The republican archery championship concluded on a high note, with the winners being determined based on the results of both the "classical bow" and "block bow" disciplines. The results will now pave the way for the Yakutian archers as they prepare to represent their region at the upcoming Cup of Russia in Cheboksary next month.
