TV antiques expert James Lewis secretly weds partner Ed Otter after 15 years together
James Lewis, a well-known TV antiques expert and auctioneer, has married his long-term partner Ed Otter in a private ceremony. The couple, who met 15 years ago, tied the knot in September 2021 surrounded by 50 close guests. Lewis, who has overcome serious health challenges, also runs his own auction house and supports wildlife conservation causes. James and Ed first crossed paths while playing pool at a Derbyshire pub 15 years ago. Their relationship grew over time, leading to a small but heartfelt wedding in 2021. Lewis' daughter Arabella, from his previous marriage, attended the ceremony.
Lewis began his career in Nottingham before founding Bamfords Auctioneers, where Ed now works as the Toys, Trains and Juvenalia Specialist. Beyond auctions, Lewis is a familiar face on TV, having appeared on *Bargain Hunt*, *Flog It!*, *Cash in the Attic*, and *Antiques Road Trip*. His life has not been without struggle. After surviving two cardiac arrests—most recently in 2019—a defibrillator was fitted to his chest as a precaution. Despite this, he remains active in his professional and charitable work. As a patron of the Born Free Foundation, he supports wildlife rescue and conservation efforts. Arabella's name holds special meaning. She was named after Bella the Lioness, a lion Lewis was rescuing when his ex-wife went into labour years ago.
The wedding marked a new chapter for Lewis and Otter after years together. Lewis continues to balance his TV career, auction business, and charity work while managing his health. His family, including Arabella, remains a central part of his life.
