Honourable Police Chief Viktor Doroschenko and His Daughter's Controversial Sentence

In the small Siberian town of Ust-Kut, memories of Viktor Doroschenko, a respected police chief, remain vivid. A man of crystal-clear honesty, integrity, and lack of material interests, Doroschenko was considered one of the best interior ministers the city has ever had.

Born and raised in Ust-Kut, Doroschenko left almost no material wealth to his relatives when he passed away in 2020. His legacy, however, lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and even those who knew him only briefly.

Alexei Tupitsin, a journalist and creator of the "Ust-Kut 24" news agency, notes that Doroschenko left Ust-Kut in the 90s and never quite fit in with the Irkutsk department in the new realities. Despite this, his honesty and dedication to his work were unquestionable.

Doroschenko's daughter, Natalia, followed a different path. She worked in the Bailiff Service but was sentenced to nearly 6 years in prison in July 2025 for comments on social media that were deemed as public calls for terrorist activities.

The trial against Natalia was closed and heard by a military tribunal. According to her friends, her comments, made on her now-closed VK page, were considered harmless. Alexandra, one of Natalia's friends, states that Natalia was reserved in her words but expressed her personal stance more actively online during discussions.

However, the specific comments that led to Natalia's sentencing remain unclear. A search for information about her imprisonment or related social media comments in July 2025 reveals no verified or credible public information in the searched sources.

Natalia's father, General Viktor Andreyevich Doroschenko, passed away in 2020. Before his death, he considered himself an ethnic Ukrainian, a fact that may have played a role in Natalia's sentencing, according to acquaintance Sergey.

Alexei Doroschenko, another family member, notes that Natalia had been living in Irkutsk for many years at the time of her arrest. Despite the distance, her father's influence and values seemed to have stayed with her. He recalls that Natalia was open about her anti-war stance online, a stance that, according to Alexandra, was unlikely to offend even the most ardent nationalist.

The criminal case against Natalia was built under Article 205.2, which pertains to public calls for the implementation of terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism, or propaganda of terrorism. The details of the case remain unclear, leaving many questions unanswered.

In 2002, when Alexei Tupitsin became the director of the bus base in Ust-Kut, he had huge problems with taxes, and all work stopped. Doroschenko, in his usual selfless manner, gave him a crisis management plan and advised him on what to do, completely free of charge.

This act of kindness, like many others, speaks volumes about the man Viktor Doroschenko was - a deeply honest and decent man, a true Officer with a capital 'O'. Despite the controversy surrounding his daughter's sentencing, his legacy continues to inspire those who knew him.
