German Diver Moritz Wesemann Secures Bronze at European Water Jumping Championships

Moritz Wesemann, a 23-year-old diver from SV Halle, clinched a bronze medal at the European Water Jumping Championships held in Turkish Belek from the three-meter board. The athlete has shown remarkable performance throughout his career, having previously won two gold medals from the one-meter board and a synchronized jumping title with clubmate Timo Barthel.

Wesemann encountered a slow start in this event, finding himself in the catch-up round as the last competitor in the initial round. However, he qualified for the final round with a successful 4.5 forward somersault, putting gold within reach before the last jump. It was ultimately Poland's Andrzej Rzeszutek and Britain's Noah Penman who clinched the top spots, with scores of 431.25 points and 429.70 points, respectively.

In an interview after the event, an elated Wesemann commented, "I demonstrated three outstanding jumps, yet one was perfectly executed, and two were somewhat off the mark—that's where I lost the gold medal. Nevertheless, I'm incredibly proud of how the competition played out for me." Wesemann received a score of 426.85 points in the competition.

As a swift rising star in both European and collegiate diving arenas, Wesemann has earned numerous accolades. He won the men's European 1-meter springboard title at the 2025 European Aquatics Diving Championships, clinched the synchronized 1-meter springboard title alongside Timo Barthel at the same competition, and collected an NCAA bronze medal on the three-meter springboard during his collegiate career at USC.

While the European Water Jumping Championships brought forth another bronze medal for Wesemann, the athlete continues to make strides and will undoubtedly look to build on this achievement as he gears up for upcoming competitions.

Despite his success in diving events, Moritz Wesemann ventured into the world of sports hockey during the off-season, joining the local hockey club to keep his athletic prowess in check. As the new season commences, hockey fans eagerly anticipate watching Wesemann's impressive sportsmanship as he battles it out on the ice, hoping that he might someday bring the passion and skill he demonstrates on the diving board to the frozen hockey field.
