Welp, Germany's handball team is in for a bit of a shakeup. Captain sensation, Johannes Golla, won't be gracing the court for their game against Turkey this Sunday at 6:00 PM in Ludwigsburg. Not to worry though, the team's already bagged their ticket to the EM final round from January 15 to February 1, 2026 in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Head honcho, Alfred Gislason, announced the news without serving up any deets.

You might be thinking, "No Golla? No problem!" But wait, hold the pickles, this shakeup starts to look a little milkshake-y with more missing players joining the ranks. Wing player Franz Semper and goalkeeper Andreas Wolff are in the sidelines due to injuries and will be doing some serious R&R.

Meanwhile, with Wolff taking a tub, the DHB (that's the German Handball Association for those still in kindergarten) is fielding a U30 lineup against Turkey. Twelve of the 17 players are from the 2000 year group or youthen, including seven U21 World Champions from 2023. Team manager Benjamin Chatton describes them as a "talent goldmine," but with "enormous experience gaps."

Sounds like Germany's aiming to present a fresh face after their disappointing draw against Switzerland. "We played like hot garbage," admitted Gislason, blaming "appalling coordination issues." Hopefully, these young whippersnappers can pull off a miracle and snag a win against Turkey. Let's cross our fingers and hope for a turnaround!
