Turkey secured a crucial 2–0 victory over Bulgaria in their World Cup qualifying match, with VfB Stuttgart captain Atakan Karazor making his international debut. The win keeps Turkey's hopes alive in Group E, following Spain's dominant 4–0 victory over Georgia.

Karazor, who had been called up to the national team multiple times before, finally got his chance to shine. He entered the game as a late substitute in the 81st minute, replacing Kaan Ayhan. Despite not featuring in the starting lineup, Karazor's presence added fresh energy to the team.

The match was won thanks to a goal from Hakan Çalhanoğlu and an own goal by Atanas Tchernev. This victory strengthens Turkey's position in the group, although Spain's win over Georgia makes topping the group theoretically more challenging.
