"Turkey hunting adventures in the Bluegrass region, guided by Merle Hacker, during the spring season"
Get ready, turkey hunting enthusiasts! The Kentucky spring turkey season is almost upon us, and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has all the information you need to get started.
If you're looking for public land options for your hunt, simply click on the Hunting tab on the department's homepage. Here, you'll find the Wildlife Management Area and Public Lands Search, which will help you plan your next adventure.
The spring turkey season spans 23 days, running from April 16 to May 4. But the excitement doesn't stop there! During the opening weekend, you can participate in "Struttin' in the Bluegrass," a series created by Steven Rinella that will run from April 16 to April 16.
The series is hosted by Kentucky native Merle Hacker, a lifelong hunter and wildlife biologist with 15 years of experience. Each day's hunt will be highlighted in a new video and posted on YouTube in the evenings. Mid-morning updates of the series will be livestreamed on Facebook and Instagram.
"Struttin' in the Bluegrass" features hunts on both public and private lands throughout central Kentucky. To ensure you're up-to-date on all the latest regulations, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife advises consulting the Spring Hunting Guide, which is only available online.
Remember, a legal turkey is defined as a male or a turkey with a visible beard. Kentucky's statewide spring harvest limit is two legal turkeys.
If you need to purchase a license or permit, you can do so through the department's MyProfile online portal or at vendor locations across the state. A list of license agents by county is available on the department's website.
The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife's website also contains a wealth of resources for turkey hunting, including the Spring Turkey Hunting webpage, which provides information on season dates, requirements, and safety tips.
So, gear up and get ready for an exciting spring season of turkey hunting in the beautiful Bluegrass State! For more information, visit the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources' Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube accounts. Happy hunting!
