In a significant development, Turkey has strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes on Damascus, characterising them as an act of sabotage that threatens Syria's pursuit of peace, stability, and security. The Turkish Foreign Ministry, in a statement, urged all stakeholders to support Syria's efforts to establish calm and peace, emphasising that these attacks are a threat to Syria's sovereignty and the peace of the entire region.

The Israeli airstrikes on Damascus, which targeted Syria's Ministry of Defense complex, are described as an escalation beyond previous military interventions in southern Syria. The assault reportedly caused significant structural damage and wounded two civilians. Syrian officials have condemned the attack as a violation of national sovereignty and international law.

In response, Turkey has taken key steps to express its solidarity with Syria. The Turkish Foreign Ministry has publicly denounced the attacks, describing them as undermining Syria's pursuit of security and integration with the international community. Turkish officials, including the Presidency's Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran, have also expressed Turkey's continued support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has launched a regional diplomatic campaign, engaging with key counterparts to coordinate a unified response to Israel's attacks. He has spoken with the Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, the US envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack, as well as Jordanian and Saudi foreign ministers. Fidan and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud agreed that the attacks undermine Syria's stability and called for an immediate end to aggression.

Turkey also urges all relevant parties to help establish peace in Syria and supports the Syrian government's steps to restore security and strengthen its presence across the country. This approach reflects Ankara's goal to stand by Syria during its reconstruction and reintegration into the international community.

Meanwhile, the Syrian government has called on the United Nations and the international community to condemn what they term Israeli aggression. The Israeli Minister has been reported to have called for the assassination of Syrian President al-Sharaa, a move that has not been confirmed by official sources.

Elsewhere in the region, nearly 10 months of bombardment in Gaza have left over 58,000 dead, according to local health officials. Clashes are occurring in Sweida, Syria, amidst ongoing Israeli military operations across the region, including Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen.

In a separate development, the Turkish Foreign Ministry has rejected a residence permit for an individual, without providing further details. Goldman Sachs, on the other hand, has predicted the US dollar will reach 45 against the Turkish lira in 12 months.
