In a recent statement, the Turkish government has responded to the 2024 U.S. State Department's Human Rights Report, dismissing the report as "unfounded" and accusing it of echoing "manipulative rhetoric" from terrorist groups.

The statement emphasised that Turkey respects fundamental rights and freedoms while fighting terrorism. It also highlighted the country's counter-terrorism operations in Syria, which are conducted with utmost care for the civilian population and infrastructure.

The statement did not mention any specific terrorist groups whose rhetoric was echoed by the U.S. in the report. However, it did note that Turkey's counterterrorism policies have been misrepresented.

The response came in direct reaction to the allegations concerning Turkey's human rights record in the 2024 Human Rights Report. The report portrayed Turkey's counter-terrorism operations in Syria outside a just and legitimate framework.

The Turkish government also defended its migration management policy, stating that it is based on human dignity. Turkey has welcomed millions of refugees and met their basic needs, serving as an exemplary country with a comprehensive and sustainable global migration management policy.

However, the report included baseless and unfounded claims from the FETO terrorist organization. The Foreign Ministry of Turkey stated that the claims in the report "are far from reality."

The statement did not provide specific details about how the report misrepresented Turkey's refugee policies or counter-terrorism operations. For detailed information on Turkey's reaction, one would need to consult official Turkish government sources or news outlets.

  1. Despite the United States' 2024 State Department's Human Rights Report accusing Turkey of misrepresenting its counter-terrorism policies, the Turkish government, in Ankara, defended its actions, stating that their policies are aimed at fighting terrorism while respecting human rights.
  2. Turkey, in the face of the general news and politics, aggressively dismissed the 2024 U.S. State Department's Human Rights Report's claims regarding its refugee management, asserting that they welcome refugees with a focus on human dignity and have repeatedly met their basic needs, serving as an exemplary model for global migration management.
