On the rescue operation at Silkyara tunnel, Dix confidently affirmed, “We’re close to locating a passage for their return. But the men are safe. The drilling unit has encountered technical issues, necessitating repairs. We expect it to be operational once more within the next 24 hours...”

Dix strongly believes that the workers are managing to endure the chilly conditions and that they will be provided sustenance and medication via narrow tubes.

The 4.5-kilometer-long highway tunnel in Uttarakhand's Himalayan region, near the town of Uttarkashi, partially crumbled on November 12 following a landslide during construction work. The hapless workers have been trapped at a distance of 200 meters from the tunnel's entrance, ensnared within vast debris deposits.
